Having Ariana for the past few weeks has completely changed my life around. Before I had my girl, my blood glucose was hardly ever in the target range. I would reach numbers in the 400's and 30's very frequently. I used to be afraid to go to sleep, with the fear that I would have a very low blood sugar, and not wake up the next morning. I am so proud to say that I have NO trouble going to sleep now. My superhero sleeps right beside me, making sure I am okay. I am a type one diabetic, and I never walk alone. Since I have had Ari, my blood sugar is in the correct/target range 95% of the time. Not only is that helping my health long term- it is helping me every sing day. Before Ari, I would feel like absolute death at the end of the day. (Due to the roller coaster of blood sugars). I now find myself a happier individual, and with so much more energy at the end of the day. I'll be completely honest- Ari does add a great deal of stress to my life. It is especially hard being a college student living in a dorm. But, let me tell you.. the small amount of stress that my dog adds to my life is NOTHING in comparison to what she does for me everyday. She keeps me safe, and she loves me unconditionally, as I love her. Ariana is not only my service dog, she is also my best friend.
Thank you Kim for all that you do.
You two saved my life.
Kim has a very special story to tell about how she came to become the Founder of Lone Star Diabetic Alert Dogs. She believes this is her calling.
We are very passionate about what we do! Come in and explore, learn more about us and if owning a DAD is right for you!
Lone Star Diabetic Alert Dogs was named after the founder's Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD). He is pictured here and his name is Rosewood's Lone Star Ditto.
Here at Lone Star Diabetic Alert Dogs we know first hand that Diabetes is a terrible, life changing disease that can take a toll on you and your family both mentally and physically. We believe it "takes one to know one". You see, our founder is a type 1 brittle diabetic. You can read more about her and her T1D story in the About Us section. She knows she would not be here without her DAD and wishes everyone could have such a wonderful diabetes management tool and constant companion. This is the main reason she founded Lone Star Diabetic Alert dogs. Come on in and take a look around.
